A story is told of a man who for many years had worked hard and diligently as a house builder. One day he told his boss that he wanted to retire, and his boss although reluctant to let him go, agreed to his proposal, except that he must finish one last project.
Because it was his last project, the man worked on it half-heartedly. The workmanship was poor, and the materials he used were of sub-standard quality. When it was finally finished, the boss turned to the man, and gave him the keys to the house.
He told him that the house he had just built was the boss's gift to him in recognition for all his good work through the years. What a pity. If only the man had put more heart into this last project, and been more committed to building the house, he would ended up with a greater enduring reward.
Likewise for all of us, as we embark on the next steps of our life's journey, may i encourage you not to put in half-hearted performance in whatever you may be tasked to do. When you set your mind to accomplishing a goal, work at it wholeheartly, purposefully and with dedication.
Work with passion ! The results will be obvious for all to see, but more importantly, you will know that you have contributed and put in your personal best. That will give your greatest satisfaction, no matter what others might say.
It is often easy to give up your dreams and hopes when faced with seemingly immoveable walls or for some even mountains of obstacles. But how thses difficulties are handled and dealt with, and your own attitude towards the difficulties, determine whether you will be an overcomer or not.
The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity, whilst the optimist sees opportunity in every difficulty. The choice is yours - which do you want to be ?
